Over the past few months, DoCUp project partnership has achieved other two important milestones: the creation of a trainer’s manual, designed to facilitate the conduct of the training course aimed at developing skills in the field of care, and the production of an e-book for learners, which provides a practical access point to all course information and knowledge.
The Docup project continues to deliver practical and inspiring results for the care community. Today we are pleased to announce the launch of two valuable resources: an e-book for learners who want to train as domestic care workers and a handbook for trainers in the care sector.
The e-book, which is closely linked to the DoCUp MOOC e-learning course, introduces an alternative approach to learning. It acts as a convenient gateway, facilitating easy access to all course-related information and knowledge. This resource is suitable for learners who prefer a more direct approach to learning or are looking for an alternative to the modular DoCUp course. The e- book covers essential assistance topics such as critical care skills, basic care skills, infection prevention, digital and administrative skills, communication and relationships, and personal agency and wellbeing.
In addition, the e-book makes continuous theoretical training convenient for learners, whether online or offline. It offers exceptional flexibility and self-learning opportunities, allowing users to download it from the project website onto various mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets. This level of accessibility ensures that learners can interact with the educational content at their convenience, enhancing their overall learning experience.
Turning to the second outcome, the trainer’s handbook has been designed for trainers of adults currently employed or seeking employment in the care sector, who have no formal training but wish to acquire specialist care skills. The main aim of this handbook is to assist trainers in delivering a comprehensive course focused on improving skills and competencies related to home care. It provides detailed guidelines for effectively training learners using the DoCUp training and assessment materials for each learning unit. It also provides clear guidance on how to develop supplementary materials and resources aligned with the DoCUp learning outcomes. In addition to these resources, the DoCUp trainer’s manual is enriched with detailed case studies, practical exercises, background reading and relevant links to encourage innovative learner engagement.
We encourage you to have a look at the resources available now. All materials are available free of charge on the project website in six different languages (English, Greek, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Swedish). We also invite you to keep up to date by following the project’s social channels on Facebook and LinkedIn.
